You can find general information about what your plan covers on our What am I covered for? page. It explains what consultations and treatments are included, along with any terms and conditions that apply. 

I've already booked a consultation or treatment. Am I covered? 

If you've already made a booking, it's easy to check if you're covered and for how much. Just login to my nib or use the nib app to view your policy.  

I need a referral. What next? 

You have the freedom to choose who you see for your treatment.  Just ask your GP for a generic referral letter and two or three recommendations on who to see.  

You can then use our Find a Provider directory to see whether the healthcare providers are part of our First Choice network and can provide you with a hassle-free claim experience.  

If you've been referred to a specialist or for diagnostic investigations, or if you're having surgery or cancer treatment, we recommend applying for a pre-approval. You can apply with my nib or through your First Choice network healthcare provider. It's better to do this before your treatment, so you can be sure your eligible costs will be covered*. Find out more about pre-approvals.

*Up to your benefit limit, subject to any excess payable and in line with your policy terms. 

I'm still not sure if I'm covered. What do I do? 

If you're having treatment in the next 24 hours, give us a call on 0800 123 642 from Monday - Friday, 8:30am to 5pm. 

Otherwise if you’re still not sure, haven't booked your consultation or treatment yet, or have a question about a particular healthcare service, fill out the online form. Our team will be in touch to answer your question.
